###

What We Do: Each month, we offer more than 150 workshops and support groups, managed by licensed mental-health professionals, for men, women, and children whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Our program is designed to help people with cancer and their friends and family deal with the physical, psychological, and emotional challenges of a diagnosis. We offer support groups, educational workshops, healthy lifestyle and stress management classes, including yoga and other gentle movement, mindfulness meditation, cooking demonstrations and more, social opportunities, and resource and referral.

Why We Are Important: Our program changes lives. The top five benefits our members report that they gain from participation are:

  • reducing cancer-related distress

  • participating in opportunities to find hope and meaning

  • feeling more connected to others

  • being able to express their full range of emotions

  • increased access to community resources

How We Impact The Community: We are here to help anyone affected by cancer– those with a diagnosis; their spouses, children, and friends; and those who have lost someone to cancer. Last year, we served 1,282 individuals with 1,995 programs at 7 locations throughout the metro area. These programs added up to 16,272 service hours with a total estimated value of $976,320.

How You Can Help:

  • Share CSC with someone facing cancer in your life. We are here to help.
  • Tour our facility to learn more.

  • Volunteer. Answer phones and greet members at our reception desk, host a pizza party for a family program, or help with one of our fundraising events.

  • Join our board of directors to help lead and grow the organization.

  • Donate at CancerSupportStl.org. All donations stay in the St. Louis community to help fund programs for people facing cancer.

Personal Stories:

“Programs are structured to make life a little easier as people take the cancer journey. They include all who are affected– patient, family, and caregivers have the opportunity to share experiences with others who are dealing with decisions that change lives. You never feel like you are the only one experiencing sadness, depression, guilt, fear, etc. Great family atmosphere.”

“All of the programs I’ve participated in were very helpful. I’ve made some great friends, learned a lot and have received emotional support. And I continue to have a lot of fun.”

“What’s always been special to me in the communication between participants. It’s so nice to make new friends and share experiences with others.”
