What is the Plasma Pen?

What is the Plasma Pen?

Written by Cortney Vaughn

Jenna at Elemental Esthetics of Creve Coeur explains everything about the Plasma Pen and whether it’s right for you!

SL: What is a Plasma Pen or “Fibroblast” treatment?

EE: First, plasma heats and disrupts all the way down to your dermal layer of skin to create micro-trauma to the tissue. Second, the surface is lightly ablated with a “fanning” technique, at which time the technician creates dots on the tissue. Then those dots (tiny blood clots with scabs) which aren’t exposing the tissue, are less likely to cause infection, making it safer than Microneedling.

SL: What can it do for clients?

EE: The Plasma Pen is revolutionary, allowing doctors to transform your skin back to its youthful self without any injections or chemicals. The most desired treatments that clients are interested in are eyelid skin tightening, neck lift or skin tightening treatment, tummy tightening, anti-aging mid-facelift, tattoo removal, scar restoration, lip augmentation (no injection needed) and wrinkle softening. Basically, the Plasma Pen can lift, rejuvenate, resurface, and tighten the skin on almost any area of the body. All of these treatments are non-invasive.

SL: Why is it better than other treatments out there?

EE: It is a much more predictable result than ablative lasers, and it doesn’t create unnecessary damage. Fibroblast services truly targets the tissue that needs repair and takes care of it. The results of this treatment lasts 3 years! Compared to cosmetic surgery, it is a very low risk procedure with no injectable anesthetic, no cutting, no scars, minimal side effects and very cost effective.

SL: How do I know if this treatment is for me?

EE: Get screened! Since this treatment is not for everyone, it’s extremely important to make sure your skin type is approved for the treatment. The “knock-off” procedures out there can leave permanent, irreversible damage. The Plasma Pen is an FDA approved, CE approved device. The “down time’ for this type of treatment is very subjective. It all depends on the comfort level and your perception of the healing process. There is to be expected redness, swelling, and scabbing in the treatment area. Compared to cosmetic surgery, there is no downtime.

The recovery is usually 5-7 days with some swelling the first two mornings after the treatment. The tiny blood clots (dots) last up to 5-7 days. This treatment is indicated for fair, light, and medium skin tones. The results are truly outstanding!
