Local Star Advances on NBC's "The Voice"

Local Star Advances on NBC's "The Voice"

Just like previous finalist Kennedy Holmes of St. Louis, Joanna Serenko achieved the elusive four-judge chair turnaround on the season premiere of NBC’s “The Voice” during the blind audition process. After Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton all shared their praise for Serenko’s rendition of The Beatles’ “All My Loving,” the 18-year-old ended up joining “Team Nick.”

Joanna was last year’s winner of the St. Louis Teen Talent Competition held at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. She started playing the piano and singing at the tender age of six, and later went on to join marching band, show choir and musical theater. After opening for a local musician in high school, Joanna started to gain traction in her community, eventually winning the Teen Talent Showcase. Joanna graduated from Kirkwood High School. Her mother is a nurse and would love for her to pursue a job in the medical field. However, her mom and dad are very encouraging of her musical aspirations and are both in support of her in decision to put college on hold and pave her own path while chasing her dreams on “The Voice.”

The second round of blind auditions continues Tuesday night on NBC.
