Miki's Closet Gets a New "Role"

Miki's Closet Gets a New "Role"

A mobile showcase on wheels that used to be known as “Miki’s Closet,” a fashion truck used by the Saint Louis Fashion Fund, is getting a new role. Rung for Women, a nonprofit that empowers women to grow and achieve sustained independence, will be using the truck to help them expand their outreach and connect with more women.

The truck was initially gifted to Saint Louis Fashion Fund (SLFF) back in 2017 by Lori Sale and Fran Slutsky. They named the fashion mobile “Miki’s Closet” in memory of their mother, Miki Zimring, a highly-successful businesswoman and philanthropist. The Fund took advantage of this incredible gift by motoring the new SLFF Truck to area high schools across the region to educate aspiring fashion designers. The nonprofit also hosted a number of trunk shows and special events on the road. In late 2020, when the Fund's focus shifted into another gear to concentrate on job creation and the economic impact of the business of fashion, it became clear the truck could be of better service to another organization. A call for proposals to share a vision for the truck was sent to local nonprofits and after careful consideration, Rung for Women was chosen as the new recipient. According to Ali Hogan, founder of Rung, the truck will help them expand their outreach into area neighborhoods to connect with more women.
