SLSO Makes More Changes to 2019/2020 Schedule
The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is postponing its remaining live concerts for the 2019/2020 season based on insights and recommendations from a team of health experts. The orchestra has announced the following schedule changes:
August 7 Revolution—The Music of the Beatles—POSTPONED to May/June 2021
August 14 Tribute to David Bowie—CANCELED; potential rescheduling for future season
August 22 Dancing in the Street: Music of Motown—POSTPONED to May/June 2021
August 30 Ragtime, Blues and All That Jazz— CANCELED; potential rescheduling for future season
September 11-13 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 in Concert—POSTPONED to spring 2021

The SLSO is developing concert and building procedures in partnership with a team of infectious disease specialists and epidemiologist from the Washington University School of Medicine and in coordination with other St. Louis venues, following the latest guidelines from St. Louis City and County. Based on these recommendations, the SLSO will make an announcement in early August about concerts this fall for its 2020/2021 season.
Sharing Music Online and On Air
In the meantime, the SLSO continues to share the power of music with the St. Louis community through rebroadcasts of previous concerts on St. Louis Public Radio, airing each Saturday at 8:00pm CDT on 90.7 KWMU and (stlpublicradio.org). Upcoming rebroadcasts include Music Director Stéphane Denève conducting Strauss’ An Alpine Symphony (July 18) and Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloé (August 15), Gemma New conducting Pines of Rome (August 8), and violinist Joshua Bell playing Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 (August 22). Full program listings can be found at slso.org/radiobroadcasts. On the first Sunday of the month, the Nine Network of Public Media televises a previous SLSO concert. Broadcasts are at 5:00pm CDT on the Nine Network (Channel 9) and later posted to its website.
While unable to perform live, the SLSO continues to share additional content online through its online and social media channels, including SLSO Stories. It recently launched its Songs of America project, a collection of performances that celebrate the breadth of voices in American music, framed against a backdrop of St. Louis landmarks that reached 175,000 people in its first week.
Ticket Donation and Exchange Information:The following options are available for those who have purchased tickets:
· Keep the tickets for postponed concerts. Those tickets are good for new concert dates when scheduled.
· Donate the value of the tickets to the SLSO and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value.
· Place the ticket value on account and use for any future concert, prior to May 31, 2021.
The SLSO encourages patrons to please consider donating the value of their tickets for any canceled concerts back to the SLSO. Such gifts help the SLSO continue to fulfill its mission to enrich lives through the power of music. Ticket donations are tax deductible. Walk-up service to ticket windows is currently suspended.
